You can imagine it...
You've got three little ones, all under 10 years old, and you're trying to get out the door. Aiden, your oldest, is fully dressed but totally distracted by the latest video game. Adaline, just a few years younger, your sweet little princess, is covered head-to-toe in dirt from her latest adventure. And little Wylie, just a few months old, is wailing. You think, "How am I ever going to make it in time?"
That's just one scenario I can imagine happening for dear Paeton, a newly widowed mother of three, as she rushed to get her family of four to our Mother's Day session at Red Rock Canyon Open Space in Colorado Springs, all the way from Buena Vista! When Paeton arrived just a few minutes after our session was set to start, I could tell it was one of those days. But there was no way we weren't going to make the most of our time together, create tons of new memories, and have a blast doing it. And what we captured that evening was incredible.
We couldn't have asked for a better day.
It was such a beautiful day, and all those little kiddos wanted to do was run and play in the beautiful park. I remember they were skipping along the trail as we made our way to our first spot. Red Rock Canyon is one of my favorite locations for a family photo session because the walk to the best locations isn't very far, the light is so dreamy in the evening, and there are so many great spots to stop and play with the kiddos. Aiden and Adaline had SO much fun playing and climbing on the red rocks when walking in between our locations.
But this session was more important than that. As the first family photos since these kids lost their dad, and Paeton lost her husband, I could feel the momentous gift that I was giving to this family by capturing these new memories. While shooting, editing, and delivering this gallery to this family, I can feel their unbreakable bond and immense love for each other. This session was SO special to me, and resonates so closely with why I do what I do, I can only image how special it is and will be to these children as they grown up.
I'll remember this session, always.
