A rainy morning at Mount Cutler.

There's almost nothing I love more than a morning hike. It was pouring rain when I left my house for Mount Cutler in North Cheyenne Canon Park in Colorado Springs, so I didn't pack my camera or bring my doggies. But I knew this hike would be worth it.

You know that feeling when you leave home on a rainy Sunday (and Mother's Day, too!), when you know everyone else is still in bed, enjoying the lazy morning. Not me. I knew I would be the only one on the trail that morning, and I couldn't wait.

It's all about timing.

The pouring rain turned to beautiful sun peaking through the clouds just when I pulled into the park. And it held off again until I had safely made it back to my car.

I only had my phone, but I couldn't help but snap pictures all along the way. Mount Cutler is such a beautiful, and family-friendly mile-long hike that gives you stunning views. Because it's so close to downtown Colorado Springs (you can see the cityscape from the trail!) this is a popular trail, so usually you'll run into lots of folks along the way. Today was my lucky day, and I only saw two other solo hikers during my trip.

It's hard to believe that such an easy trail gives such incredible views. Can you imagine getting your family photos done here?! The three spots below would be just perfect, but there are so many other family photo spots along the Mount Cutler trail that would allow your kiddos to play and express themselves -- truly capturing your family memories along the way!

An eye for adventure.

Since the rain held off, I was kicking myself for not packing my camera. But my phone was able to capture a little bit of the beauty I saw while I was enjoying my walk. I totally climbed all of the rocks along the way too, like I was a kid again! Side note -- does anyone want to do that zip line with me?

I can't wait to go back, and take family photos at Mount Cutler sometime this summer. Will it be with your family?
